Man beaten to death with metal pole during argument over $12, Boynton Beach Police say

A man is facing a murder charge after he allegedly beat another man to death with a metal pole in Boynton Beach during an argument over $12, police said.

Brannon Michael Taylor, 35, is charged with first-degree murder with a deadly weapon in the killing of 29-year-old Jordan Scales, Boynton Beach Police said Thursday.

The investigation began Sunday morning after officers responded to reports of a body found in a wooded area near 1900 South Federal Highway.

Officers found the body of Scales, who’d suffered severe head trauma, along with a metal pole with what appeared to have blood on it, police said.

Taylor was identified as the suspect and investigators determined the two had been bickering over $12 that Scales allegedly owed Taylor, police said.

That’s when Taylor began beating Scales with the metal pole, killing him, officials said.

Taylor was taken into custody on Wednesday with the help of U.S. Marshals, and gave a full confession, police said.

He was booked into the Palm Beach County jail on the murder charge.
