Pedestrian, 71, killed in crash in New Castle, Delaware
A pedestrian was killed in a crash Wednesday night in New Castle, according to Delaware State Police.
Officials said the crash happened at approximately 9:50 p.m. on the southbound lanes of North Dupont Highway, near Bacon Avenue.
According to police, preliminary investigation indicated that a Ram 2500 was traveling behind a tractor trailer on North Dupont Highway and changed lanes. At the same time, a man entered the road from the Manor Park Shopping Center and walked into the path of the Ram, causing the truck to hit the pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 71-year-old man from New Castle, died at the scene.
Police did not release his name as his family has yet to be notified.
The Ram’s driver, a 53-year-old man from New Castle, and a passenger were not injured in the crash.
