Video appearing to show Homestead Police cruiser racing under investigation, cops say

Homestead Police are investigating a video posted on social media that appears to show a marked police cruiser racing another car, officials said.

The video posted by @TRUEHOMESTEAD on Instagram shows a red vehicle pulling up next to the cruiser before the two vehicles race down the street.

In a statement, Homestead Police said command staff was made aware of the video on Thursday and that the department’s internal affairs bureau immediately launched an investigation.

Police said they’re trying to identify the driver and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, and said appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation.

“The Homestead Police Department holds its members to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and conduct,” the department’s statement read. “Behavior of this nature is taken seriously and does not reflect the values or expectations of this agency.”
