Man trespasses on Miami yacht, claims he's ‘holding it' for Trump, cops say

Bodycam video captured the arrest of a man who is accused of trespassing onto a yacht in Miami and refusing to leave because he was “holding it” for President Donald Trump.

Video shared by the Miami Police Department shows the arrest that happened on April 22 while the vessel was docked at 1160 Northwest North River Drive.

Miami police said the suspect, 51-year-old Terry Roberts, had boarded the yacht and claimed he had permission from the owner, who he identified as Trump.

The real owner of the vessel said he did not know Roberts and had not given him permission to board, police said.

Bodycam video showed that when asked what he was doing on the boat, Roberts responded: “I’m holding it for a friend.”

“The owner is right here though,” an officer states.

“That’s not the owner. The owner is Donald Trump, the president. You guys aren’t even supposed to be on here because it’s maritime law,” Roberts replied.

He went on to state that he would not leave, and told officers to “go call [Trump]… I’m a veteran of the United States Army and I’m here to protect Donald Trump’s boat.”

Police continued to talk to Roberts and they requested marine patrol to assist in the event that he entered the water, an arrest report said.

Authorities said that after Roberts refused to comply multiple times, they moved in to arrest him. At least one officer prepared a Taser, but did not fire.

Video shows that officers checked Roberts for weapons and took him into custody.

After he was arrested, the owner of the yacht checked the vessel and saw that a bedroom door had been damaged, with an estimated repair cost of approximately $3,000, the arrest report said. The victim also reported that the yacht keys were missing.

When officers searched Roberts, they found the keys in his pocket, according to the report.

Roberts now faces multiple charges, including burglary, grand theft of a vehicle, resisting an officer without violence, petty theft and criminal mischief of $1,000 or more.
