Surveillance shows woman chasing after SUV that hit her car in Brickell

A woman is asking for the community’s help after surveillance footage captured the moments she chased after a driver who hit her car in Brickell, waited several minutes and then took off.

Myriam Acimi was at work Wednesday at Sand Which Miami when she said she watched someone back up and hit her Jeep in the parking lot. She then ran outside to talk with the driver, a young man.

“He looked at me and said, ‘I can’t, I can’t,’ I said I need to call the police because you hit my car,” Acimi said.

She called the police and the two waited. Nearly 20 minutes later, the young man drove out of the parking lot.

“I thought, what is he doing, this guy?” Acimi said. “I was thinking, oh my God, is he going to stop because we’re in the middle of Brickell?”

She couldn’t let him get away. So instead of standing there, Acimi started chasing after the SUV.

Surveillance video from a nearby business, Rock Boy Pizza, showed Acimi running.

“I was running after him from this exit here, I caught him at the red light, and he cross the red light and almost hit somebody, and I couldn’t catch him anymore,” Acimi said.

Acimi is now asking the Brickell community to keep an eye out for a dark grey Chevy Equinox.

“That’s not fair for me because he hit my car, and it’s dangerous to do that, this kind of behavior,” Acimi said.

Miami Police said they are investigating.

“This guy is young, I understand, but he can’t do that,” Acimi said. “He needs to be careful; that is just a car, but it could be worse than that.”
