‘We've had enough': Philly bakery vows to lower prices despite rising costs

In a world where it seems like everything is getting more expensive and unaffordable, a beloved Philadelphia bakery has decided to go against that trend.

Like many businesses across the country, Termini Brothers Bakery said it has been struggling to navigate increasing costs, all while trying not to raise its prices. However, the Termini brothers, Vinny and Joey, said they felt that holding prices steady was “not good enough” for their customers.

So, instead of just keeping prices as they are, they decided to lower them.

“Having to see a child not be able buy a cupcake, or watching an elderly woman count change to purchase a coffee cake simply hurts our heart, and is frankly not acceptable as it is in direct contrast of our core mission,” the brothers wrote in a Facebook post on April 10.

After their initial announcement, the owners of the century-old Italian bakery posted a video on April 16, to share the list of items that will be now be offered at a lower price.

“We just want you to know how much we love and appreciate your business and your loyalty over the years. And we want to do our part to make Termini brothers a more important, more frequent part of your everyday life,” the brothers said in the video.

For example, they said their eight-inch stock cakes, along with their funfetti, chocolate layer and vanilla layer cakes, will now be $30, instead of $40. Their tiramisu will also be $30 instead of $40.

The bakery’s coffee cake ring cakes will also be $10 off from their original price — meaning they will be $15 instead of $25.

You may be also wondering about their cupcakes. Well, cupcakes will now be $3 instead of $5.

“It’s something that my brother and I are taking tremendous pride in because we know that my father and grandfather would not have been proud with, you know, the way our products have been priced. And we wanted to do something about it. And we did,” the brothers said in the video.

The Terminis said they hope to hold these new prices as long as they possibly can.

“There’s no timeline here,” they said.
