Corrections officer killed in motorcycle crash in Northeast Philly
A corrections officer with the Philadelphia Department of Prisons was killed in a motorcycle crash early Friday morning in the city’s Holmesburg neighborhood, according to officials.
Officials told NBC10 that Sergeant Devon Williams was on his way to work when he crashed his motorcycle around 6:45 a.m. on the 4300 block of Cottman Avenue.
First responders transported Williams to the Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, and was declared dead around 7:10 a.m.
Officials said Williams was a 10-year veteran of the Philadelphia Department of Prisons and was assigned to the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center as a staff deployment supervisor.
No further details regarding other vehicles involved or potential charges were immediately available.
