Wanted federal fugitive who fled authorities caught in Hialeah, FHP says
A wanted federal fugitive who led troopers on a pursuit that ended in Hialeah on Wednesday was taken into custody after trying to flee again on Thursday, authorities said.
The suspect was found at a Walgreens near West 68th Street and 12th Avenue in Hialeah on Thursday where he was taken into custody, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.
Video obtained by NBC6 showed a heavy police presence, including armed authorities running in the area.
Hialeah Police officials said their K-9 unit assisted FHP in locating the suspect, who tried to resist arrest but was Tased and taken into custody.
FHP officials said the same suspect fled from troopers on Wednesday before the pursuit ended in the area of Northwest 137th Avenue and Northwest 178th Street.
Witnesses said the incident started as a chase, and that authorities told them a suspect jumped out of a truck and fled on foot.
The suspect’s identity wasn’t released but FHP officials said he is a wanted federal fugitive.
He now faces charges including aggravated fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, resisting with violence and grand theft.
