Son charged with murder of father in Montgomery County, DA says

A 23-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder for killing his father in their home in Trappe, Pa., the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said on Friday.

According to prosecutors, Pennsylvania State Troopers arrived at a home on Dewees Place on Feb. 1, 2026, at around 12:19 a.m. after the suspect, Justin Wilson, called 911 and said that his father had shot himself.

But when troopers arrived at the scene, they saw signs of a struggle and Wilson — according to prosecutors — had “blood on each of his cheeks, blood on multiple areas of his hoodie sweatshirt, shorts, socks and sneakers.”

Wilson’s father, 61-year-old Kevin Wilson, was found lying on his bed with a gunshot wound to the head, prosecutors said. The medical examiner’s office later determined Kevin Wilson’s death to be a homicide inconsistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

An investigation also determined that the gun used in the incident belonged to Justin Wilson and had been purchased on Jan. 10, 2026, prosecutors said.

Justin Wilson was charged on Friday with first-degree murder and related charges. He remains in custody after his bail was denied, court records showed.

No attorney for Justin Wilson was listed in court documents as of Friday afternoon.
