Helicopter lands on Palmetto Expressway as apparent deadly crash shuts down lanes
An apparent deadly crash on the Palmetto Expressway (State Road 826) in Miami-Dade shut down all lanes for hours and prompted air rescue on Friday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the vehicle crash with injuries happened in the southbound lanes near Northwest 36th Street.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the emergency call “came in as a traffic accident involving entrapment.”

Rescue units responded and are working to extricate the patients, officials said. Two people were involved, and one of them is pending transport by air rescue to a trauma center.
Video of the scene showed what appeared to be a body covered in a yellow tarp.
Traffic cameras captured several first responders blocking all lanes as they worked the scene. Video also showed the rescue helicopter landing on the roadway.
It was not immediately clear who was hurt or what may have caused the crash.
