Woman charged with attempted murder after man shot in Liberty City, report says

A woman accused of shooting a man in Liberty City was arrested on Sunday, authorities said.

Diamonique Patterson, 22, was charged with attempted murder.

During her court appearance, a judge denied Patterson’s bond.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, on April 9, deputies arrived at 2014 NW 69th St. after receiving reports of a shooting.

An arrest report said that deputies found a victim, rendered aid to him, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Surveillance video in the area captured a woman running eastbound along Northwest 58th Street and firing a gun several times, the report said

When detectives arrived at the scene, the report said, they found the victim’s vehicle and saw that there were three bullet holes on the right rear passenger door. A spent shell casing was found on the front passenger floorboard.

As detectives continued their investigation, they spoke to the residents at 2014 NW 69th St., who told them that the victim rang their doorbell and asked them to call 911, the report said.

At the hospital, the report said, the victim told detectives that an unknown man entered his barbershop and made threats. The victim noticed the man reaching towards his waistband, which he thought was for a gun.

After finishing work at the barbershop, the victim said he drove to a corner store where the unknown man usually was, and after meeting, the man told the victim to follow him in his car, the report said.

The victim then started following the man, and when his car stopped, the victim told detectives that something felt wrong, and then an unknown woman got out of the man’s car and got inside the victim’s car, and told him “He wants me to set you up,” the report said.

The woman, the report said, then left the victim’s car, brandished a gun and fired multiple times at the victim.

Five days after the victim was shot, he was able to identify the woman who shot him during a photographic line-up, the report said.

Detectives on Sunday were then dispatched to 545 NW. 56th Street after receiving reports of a suspicious woman who was wearing Islamic clothing, who was identified as Patterson, the report said.

During a search of abandoned apartments nearby, the report said, detectives found a firearm in the kitchen area. Two men were also found in the apartment with Patterson.

When Patterson was taken by detectives, she wanted to speak to them and said she wasn’t aware of the incident and told them she and the victim had sexual relations about three times, the report said.

Detectives then told Patterson that the victim identified her during a photo line-up, and she requested to have a lawyer, the report said.

She was then arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Correctional Center.
