Driver dead, 2 passengers hospitalized after crashing into parked cars in Opa-locka, deputies say
A driver who crashed into parked vehicles in Opa-locka was killed, and two passengers were taken to the hospital on Sunday, deputies said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at around 7:13 a.m. in the area of 2500 Northwest 135th Street was going at a high-rate of speed and hit parked vehicles.
During the crash, the driver, a man, was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two women who were passengers were airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.
Video at the scene showed people on a gurney being put in a chopper, and a vehicle that was severely damaged.
The identities of the deceased and the two women were not released.
An investigation into the crash remains active.
