Man wounded in 2020 shootout with Miami cop takes plea deal, gets 15 years in prison

A man who was wounded in a 2020 shootout with a Miami Police officer is headed to prison after accepting a plea deal on Monday.

Antranard Womble, 30, was sentenced to 15 years in prison under the plea deal.

Womble had been arrested on attempted murder and other charges in the April 24, 2020 shooting involving Tactical Robbery Unit Officer Erica Socarras.

Antranard Womble in court on April 27, 2026.

Court records showed Socarras was following a Nissan Sentra in her unmarked Dodge Charger when she said she had an exchange of gunfire near the 1800 block of Northwest 50th Street.

Officers responded to ShotSpotter gunshot detection alerts and found Womble shot in his earlobe and the back of his head.

Socarras’ Charger was hit multiple times and a round struck the Taser on her gun belt but she wasn’t injured in the gunfire, police said.

Womble was hospitalized and later arrested.

Socarras, who approved of the plea deal, spoke in court on Monday.

“I was a target…that day I was ambushed,” she said.

Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales also attended Monday’s hearing and afterwards spoke with NBC6.

“I would love this to be a clear and distinct message to anyone out there who thinks that it’s okay to harm, hurt or harass an officer of the Miami Police Department or any law enforcement agency,” Morales said. “We are not society’s punching bags, we go out there doing our job, we go out there to protect our community but we will defend ourselves and we will make sure that our community is safe.”
