Woman charged after 72-year-old man killed in crash in Wilmington, Del.
The driver of a vehicle that, police claim, ran a red light along Rocky Run Parkway on April 18, 2026, and caused a crash that ended in the death of a 72-year-old man, has been arrested and charged.
Officials said Sunday that Michelle Palazzolo, 35, of Wilmington, Del., was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and related offenses following a deadly crash that happened on April 18, 2026.
In this incident, officials said, a white Ford Taurus, driven by Palazzolo, ran a red light at the intersection of Concord Pike and Rocky Run Parkway at about 2:20 p.m. on April 18, 2026.
Upon running the light, Palazzolo’s vehicle slammed into side of a gray Toyota Prius that was making a left turn onto Concord Pike and had the green light.
The driver of that Prius, a 72-year-old man from Newark, Del., was taken to a nearby hospital where, officials said, he was pronounced after the crash.
Palazzolo was taken to a nearby hospital after suffering non-life threatening injuries in the crash, police said.
Police said that, at the time the crash occurred, Palazzolo “showed signs of impairment.”
Palazzolo, police said, has been committed to the Delores J. Baylor Woman’s Correctional Institution on a $10,250 secured bond.
An investigation into this crash remains ongoing.
