NJ prosecutors investigate reports of abuse at Woodbine School District
Prosecutors in New Jersey said they are investigating reports of possible abuse that may have happened at the Woodbine School District.
According to officials, the investigation into the new abuse claims came after the arrest of Shaun Stebbins, 43, a pre-kindergarten teacher’s aide at Woodbine Elementary School who is accused of sexually assaulting several children between 2014 and 2025.
Investigators explained that Stebbins, who was arrested on March 29, 2026, is accused of committing sexual acts with children under the age of 13. He is also accused of creating child pornography that was in his possession.
Court documents revealed Stebbins is accused of sexually assaulted four children, including one as young as 5 years old.
The court documents also shared that Stebbins is accused of raping a young girl while she was in his care, and another child reported that Stebbins sexually assaulted him multiple times a week.
Officials said none of the victims were Stebbins’ students.
Following Stebbins’ arrest, officials told NBC10 that there could be more victims out there.
Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office said it is now working together with the New Jersey State Police Woodbine Barracks to investigate claims of abuse at the school district, and are asking the public for their help.
Anyone who may have information related to any incidents is strongly encouraged to come forward.
Information can be reported by contacting the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-465-1135 or by submitting an anonymous tip through the Prosecutor’s Office website at cmcpo.tips.
“The safety and well-being of our community, especially our children, remains our highest priority,” Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland stated. It should be noted Stebbins has charges pending out of Atlantic County and is currently detained. No further details are being released currently due to this being an active investigation.”
