No snacks? Delta is dropping food and beverage service for short flights

Sometimes it’s hard to come by a second pack of pretzels — especially if you never get a first.

Delta Air Lines announced a significant upcoming change to its food and beverage policy.

Passengers on flights under 350 miles will no longer be offered drinks and snacks starting on May 19.

That means 9% of Delta’s up to 5,500 daily flights, including connections, will transition to no service.

“Even on the small number of flights without beverage service, our crew will continue to be visible, available, and focused on caring for our customers, like they do on every flight,” Delta said in a statement.

Currently, Delta offers at least a complimentary snack and beverage to all cabins on flights over 250 miles, according to its website.

Moving forward, customers traveling 350 miles or more will still get full beverage and snack service. And Delta is expanding that to hundreds of flights that previously got limited beverage service.
