Miami-Dade prosecutors drop 1 sex battery case against real estate mogul Oren Alexander

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office has dropped one sexual battery state case against Oren Alexander, a month after the real estate mogul and his two brothers were convicted of federal sex trafficking.

On Wednesday, during the first hearing since their federal conviction, Natalie Snyder, an Assistant State Attorney handling the Alexander brothers’ cases in Miami, announced they would be dropping a sexual battery charge causing no serious injury against Oren.

The dismissal stemmed from the victim, a Costa Rican woman, feeling satisfied with the federal verdict in New York last month. The victim, who claimed she was sexually assaulted by Oren, told prosecutors she does not want to go under more trauma.

“We were not surprised by this,” said Joel Denaro, one of the attorneys representing the Alexander brothers. “But we are pleased.”

In Miami-Dade, Oren still has an open sexual battery case causing no serious personal injury and a sexual battery case with multiple perpetrators where his co-defendant is his twin brother Alon.

The brothers are awaiting trial in Florida state court pending their sentencing in New York.

Last month, Oren, Alon, and their brother Tal were found guilty in federal court in New York City on all 10 counts of engaging in a yearslong conspiracy of rape, sex trafficking, sex abuse and sexual exploitation.

A jury of six men and six women delivered the verdict after a monthlong trial that featured testimony from more than 30 witnesses.

The brothers, whom federal prosecutors in Manhattan charged in December 2024, face up to life in prison. They are set to be sentenced in August.

The brothers have always denied the allegations.
