Miami Beach man charged with making death threats against Trump, Rubio
A Miami Beach man is facing federal charges after he allegedly posted repeated threats on social media about assassinating President Donald Trump and other members of his administration, authorities said.
Nathaniel Sanders II, 32, appeared in federal court Monday after he was charged with charged with threatening the President of the United States and transmitting threats in interstate commerce, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida said.
Sanders is accused of making numerous posts on X and Instagram threatening Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former Attorney General Pam Bondi from at least January through April, prosecutors said.
“Imma bomb the (expletive) White House,” one post read, according to a criminal complaint.
In a video posted to Instagram, he stated, in part: ” I don’t know what to do Melania, like, all I got is a gun. It’s the only thing I can use now is a gun,” the complaint said.
In another video, he spoke Spanish while speaking about Rubio saying “yo no tengo miedo de nadie,” which translates to “I’m not scared of anyone,” the complaint said.
“We all (expletive) bleed (expletive). Like a lot of people be forgetting they bleed just like everybody else,” he said in the video, according to the complaint. “Like when I get my hands on him, I’m gonna hurt him. Simple as that.”
Officials said Sanders faces a maximum of 10 years in federal prison if convicted.
“Threats against public officials are not political speech,” said U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida. “They are serious federal crimes that endanger public safety and the rule of law. The complaint alleges that this defendant repeatedly threatened to assassinate the President of the United States and other senior officials. Those allegations will now be tested in court.”
