Man killed in North Philly triple shooting, police say

One man was killed and two others have been hospitalized, officials said, after a triple shooting unfolded in North Philadelphia early Friday.

According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident happened at about 2:21 a.m. near the intersection of 25th and Berks streets, in North Philadelphia, when three men were attacked while they were sitting together on the front steps of a home.

One man, identified by police as 31-year-old Tamir Hill of North Philadelphia, was shot multiple times and was taken to a nearby hospital where, Small said, he was pronounced at about 2:56 a.m.

The other two men — both 26-years-old — who were injured in the shooting after one man was struck in the legs and body and the other suffered a gunshot wound to his chest, were taken to a nearby hospital as well, Small said.

Both surviving victims, he said, were listed in critical condition.

At the scene, investigators recovered five spent shell casings and, Small said, one of the bullets struck a nearby home, traveling through the front door and into the living room.

However, he said, no one in the home was injured.

The shells, he said, were found near the porch of the home where the men were sitting, leading police to believe the victims were targeted in this incident.

However, Small said, police did not immediately have a motive or suspect identified in this shooting.

Police were reviewing surveillance footage from the scene for more information as of about 7 a.m., according to Small.

He also said that investigators were not sure if the suspected shooter fled on foot or in a vehicle.

But, an investigation, he said, remains ongoing.
