Police: Investigation ongoing after dead man found in burning SUV in Juniata Park
An investigation is underway, officials said, after a man was found shot to death inside a burning SUV in Philadelphia’s Juniata Park community early Thursday morning.
According to police, homicide investigators responded to the scene along 4300 block of Malta Street at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday following a report of a person with a gun.
In a morning update, officials said, upon arrival, investigators found a 45-year-old man — who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head — sitting in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Durango that was engulfed in flames.
First responders pronounced the man at the scene at about 12:43 a.m., officials said.
However, as of about 8:30 a.m. officials had not provided further details on the circumstances in this incident, nor have they shared any other identifying information on a victim in this case and police have not announced any arrests.
As spotted by NBC10’s cameras on Thursday morning, police towed the SUV from the scene as the investigation continued.
