Man sentenced to life in prison for stabbing Bucks County woman to death: Docs

A man was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Tuesday for stabbing a 19-year-old woman to death in Lower Makefield Township in 2024, court documents revealed.

Trevor Weigel, 25, of Churchville, will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Jaden Battista, who he stabbed to death on Feb. 16, 2024.

The attack unfolded after officers arrived at the scene at around 2:30 p.m. of 2500 block of Waterford Road.

The officers first spotted a man, later identified as Weigel, standing outside a car with the door open. The officer said Weigel began chasing after a woman, later identified as Battista. Weigel then tackled her to the ground and stabbed her around 15 times, investigators said at the time.

The officer approached and tried to stop the attack, according to police. Weigel then fled and scaled a fence as other responding officers chased after him, officials said. As he ran away, Weigel stabbed himself in the neck, according to police. The officers then used a Taser on Weigel and captured him, according to investigators.

Weigel received medical treatment while in custody and recovered from his injuries.

He remained in custody ahead of his Jan. 2026 trial, where he was found guilty of criminal homicide, burglary and other related offenses.

Battista’s mother read a statement to the court, which said that her family, including her two younger daughters, will have to live without their beloved Jaden.

“Jaden was a gentle soul in a world that was far too cruel to her,” Battista’s mother said. “She didn’t deserve this — no one does — but especially not someone who brought so much kindness, love and light into the world.”

“There is an emptiness in our home and in my heart that can never be filled,” she added.

Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan addressed the sentence as well, saying that it will ensure that Weigel will never be able to take another life.

“Trevor Weigel stole a future full of dreams and love,” he said. “Today, the justice system ensured he will never have the opportunity to take another life. Our hearts remain with the loved ones of Jaden Battista, who have shown incredible strength through this nightmare.”
