Man runs away with Rolex from Miami jewelry store, suveillance shows

A man is in jail after police say he stole a luxury watch worth nearly $40,000 from a Miami jewelry store, an incident that was caught on surveillance.

According to police, 59-year-old Felipe Llanoscolon ran off with a Rolex watch worth nearly $40,000 on April 13 at Franky Diamonds inside the flea market on Northwest 27th Avenue.

Owner Franky Diamonds says the incident didn’t stop at their booth but spilled over into the parking lot, where one of his workers chased the suspect, trying to get the watch back, even jumping on the hood of the U-Haul truck that the suspect was driving.

“My team member went on the car, and the guy tried to run my team member over, too,” he said. “My team member got hurt really bad.”

The police report stated Llanoscolon drove off the property, eventually stopping at Northwest 79th Street with the worker still on the hood.

Police said the suspect ran off but was caught several days later.

Diamonds said they still haven’t gotten the watch back.

“$40,000 is $40,000, and that’s coming out of somebody’s pocket,” he said. “…Today’s market price with the gold going up, it’s probably over $50,000 that watch is worth.”

The suspect faces several charges, including grand theft and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
