Man arrested after groping and stabbing stranger at Miami-Dade bus stop, deputies say
A man is facing charges after he allegedly chased down and stabbed another man at a bus stop in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.
Xavier Lavonne Johnson, 39, is facing charges including attempted second-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a felon, and resisting an officer without violence, records showed.
According to an arrest report, the alleged incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Thursday at a bus stop near Northwest 79th Street and Northwest 12th Avenue.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies who responded found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to his back.
The victim said he was waiting at the bus stop when a man who he didn’t know approached and inappropriately touched his buttocks, the report said.
He said he confronted the man, who pulled out a knife and started chasing him before he caught up to him and stabbed him multiple times, the report said.
The victim told deputies where his attacker, later identified as Johnson, was hiding and deputies found him but he fled on foot, the report said.
After a brief foot pursuit, he was taken into custody.
Two knives were recovered from the scene, the report said.
Johnson was booked into jail and was expected to appear in bond court on Friday.
