SWAT responds after driver forced to take men to Miami Beach at gunpoint, cops say

A SWAT team responded to a Miami Beach apartment building Tuesday night after a driver said he was forced at gunpoint to take two men to that location.

Authorities arrived at a building called SoBe Ocean Drive Suites, off of Ocean Drive and 14th Street, across from the Betsy Hotel at around 9:14 p.m.

The rideshare driver told authorities that he had picked up the two men outside of the city and was forced to take them to the building.

Officers found the two men and were able to take one into custody.

The second man “barricaded himself inside a location in the 1400 block of Ocean Drive,” before he was safely taken into custody at around 1:08 a.m. Wednesday.

The names of the men in custody were not immediately revealed. It was also not known what charges they could face.

The investigation continues.
