BMW carjacking suspect arrested after PIT maneuver and crash in Lauderhill, BSO says
A suspect in a Deerfield Beach carjacking of a BMW was taken into custody after authorities performed a PIT maneuver that ended on a crash in Lauderhill on Thursday, officials said.
The incident began around 12:30 p.m. when the carjacking happened at a gas station at 1277 Hillsboro Boulevard, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Deputies responded to investigate and BSO’s Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response and Aviation Units responded and found the BMW, and a PIT maneuver was performed in the 3400 block of West Sunrise Boulevard near the Swap Shop.
Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed the BMW crashed into a fence and person in handcuffs being placed on a stretcher.
Officials said the suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
He was later identified as 31-year-old Antonio L. Dominguez. Charges against him are pending, officials said.
