Police investigating series of break-ins at Wilmington, Delaware businesses

Police in Wilmington, Delaware, are investigating a series of burglaries that occurred at businesses earlier this month.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, from April 5 to April 27, officers responded to reports of 11 commercial burglaries or attempted burglaries at various businesses.

Police noted that all of the burglaries happened at businesses that are all located in neighborhoods west of I-95.

The reported burglary locations include:

1800 block of Lancaster Avenue

1000 block of West 4th Street – multiple incidents spanning several hours

1400 block of Lancaster Avenue – two incidents, several days apart

1800 block of West 3rd Street

1700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue

1600 block of Gilpin Avenue

1700 block of Augustine Cutoff

1300 block of North Union Street – two incidents, ten days apart

Police said attempted burglaries also happened at two locations: one in the 100 block of North Lincoln Street and one in the 400 block of North DuPont Street.

According to police, these cases have been assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, and investigators are working to confirm possible connections among the incidents and gather additional evidence as they work to identify those responsible.
