Marple Twp. says kids and parents will face penalty for ‘irresponsible' E-biking

Marple Township police said that a group of around 10 kids and their parents “will be dealt with as harshly as possible” after the children rode E-bikes with “no character” and hit a person.

In a statement put out on Wednesday night, police in the Delaware County town said that around 10 kids “rode “showed no character” while riding around on E-bikes in the area of South Sproul Road at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5.

As the group was causing damage to the Cardinal O’Hara baseball and softball fields, one of the E-bike riders struck a man who was trying to stop them, police said.

“A pedestrian was struck and slightly injured by one of them who showed no character and continued on without hesitation,” the statement read in part.

The police statement went on to say that the kids were “generally wreaking havoc” when they were spotted in the Wawa parking lot at around 6:20 p.m.

The kids then dispersed at speeds up to 45 mph, police said.

The man hit by an E-bike suffered minor injuries, police said.

Some of the kids have been identified, but anyone who may have witnessed the mayhem, or has photos or videos of the incident, is urged to come forward and speak to Marple Township police.
