Man shot 4 times while painting car in Kensington, police say
A man has been hospitalized, police said, after he was shot four times as he spray painted his car in Kensington early Tuesday.
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, police learned about the incident, that happened along the 2000 block of East Monmouth Street in Kensington, shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning.
But, he said, officers responding to the shooting found no victim at the scene.
Instead, according to Small, the 36-year-old man injured in this incident drove himself to an area hospital after he was shot four times on the street in front of his home.
The victim told police that he was spray painting his car on Monday evening when a gunman walked up, produced a firearm and shot him four times — once in the back and three times in his arms — before fleeing on foot, northbound.
Police, Small said, are reviewing footage from cameras at the scene and they have interviewed witnesses to the shooting but he did not immediately provide a description of the suspected shooter.
Also, according to Small, police do not know if the gunman knew the victim or what the motive for the shooting might have been.
But, he said, an investigation is ongoing.
