Jersey Shore officer accused of recording nude inmate in holding cell

An officer with the Ventnor Police Department was indicted on multiple charges Wednesday after being accused of recording a nude inmate while she was detained in a holding cell in 2025, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

On April 29, 2026, an Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted Ryan Bonanni, 25, on second-degree charges of official misconduct, third-degree invasion of privacy, and third-degree criminal computer activity in connection with the incident involving an inmate.

In July 2025, prosecutors said they became aware of an incident where Bonanni recorded a nude female inmate while she was secured in the Ventnor Police Department holding cell.

According to officials, these recordings were made without the knowledge of the other officers involved in the woman’s arrest.

Officials said Bonanni is also accused of sending the videos via Snapchat to several police officers as well as his civilian friends and family.

According to prosecutors, second-degree crimes carry a maximum of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
