Husband accused of killing Coral Springs vice mayor pleads not guilty
The husband accused of murdering his Coral Springs vice mayor wife was back in court Tuesday where judge formally accepted his not guilty plea in the killing.
Stephen Bowen, 40, is charged with premeditated murder and tampering with evidence in the killing of Nancy Metayer at the couple’s home back on April 1.

Coral Springs Police said Bowen shot and killed Metayer then wrapped her body in blankets and garbage bags before confessing he killed her to a family member.
According to an arrest report, Bowen’s uncle told police that Bowen said he shot Metayer three times with a shotgun the night before because he “couldn’t take it anymore.”

Bowen was later arrested in Plantation and is being held without bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for May 28.
