High school sweethearts dead after murder-suicide in Pa. home, police say

A man is accused of killing his wife in their home before going into the woods and taking his own life, according to the NBC affiliate in Pittsburgh.

The parents of Ryan Hosso, 26, called police early in the morning of Tuesday, April 28 to report the crime, officials told WPXI.

Ryan’s parents said that he called them and said that he had shot and killed his wife, 25-year-old Madeline Spatafore Hosso, and he planned to kill himself, police said.

Ryan reportedly then went into the woods behind their home and shot himself, officials said.

Officers with the Northern Regional Police Department responded to the home in Seven Fields, Pennsylvania, and found Madeline suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a trooper who spoke with WPXI.

Police have not yet revealed any possible motive for the shooting.

Remembering Madeline Spatafore Hosso

A former advisor, Philip Clarke, who knew Madeleine while she was a student at Duquesne University said that the couple were high school sweethearts from Seneca Valley High School. According to the wedding website “The Knot,” the two were married in September 2024 in Ohio.

“Everybody loved her; everybody loved being around her because she brought so much,” Philip Clarke told WPXI in Pittsburgh.

Clarke explained that he was shocked when he learned Madeleine’s husband shot and killed her in their Butler County home.

She was in the honors college at Duquesne, a member of the Delta Zeta sorority and other organizations, WPXI reported.

According to her Facebook and LinkedIn pages, Madeline had been working at UPMC Presby as a Neurovascular Critical Care Physician Assistant since November 2024, WPXI reported.
