Cheers to the Flyers' playoff run with a new Gritty smoothie at Wawa
As the Philadelphia Flyers continue the hunt for the Stanley Cup, Wawa has a new smoothie that just might taste especially great if sipped from that historic chalice.
Or, really, would be good from any cup and, it’s named for the Philadelphia Flyers’ enigmatic mascot, Gritty.
Starting today, Wawa customers can order a new “Gritty” smoothie, that features pineapple, cherry and mango flavors topped with whipped cream with chocolate chips.
As the new taste sensation was announced Monday morning, Doug Martin, Wawa’s chief marketing officer said that the company was excited to partner with the Philadelphia Flyers and Gritty to celebrate the Flyers as they prepare to take on the Carolina Hurricanes in the second game of the second round of the playoffs.
“What’s better than two great Philadelphia brands that taste great together?” asked Doug.
And, amid a flurry of cheers at a Wawa in Media on Monday — while joined by none other than Wawa’s Wally mascot and Gritty himself — NBC10’s Brenna Weick gave the smoothie her personal seal of approval.
“It’s so good you guys. It’s fruity, it’s got the whipped cream,” said Weick.
The new Gritty smoothie is now available at over 400 stores in the Philadelphia and surrounding regions and it will be offered through June.
