Bucks Co. public adjuster charged with stealing over $140k from clients

The owner and operator of a public adjuster business in Bucks County has been charged with stealing over $140,000 worth of insurance payout from clients, officials said.

According to police, on the heels of a four-month-long investigation, Greg Micucci, 61, of Bristol, owner and operator of Advanced Public Adjusters, has been charged with misappropriating over $140,000 from at least nine clients and their contractors.

“Homeowners trust public adjusters to protect them after a disaster, not to exploit them for personal gain,” said Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan in a statement on the charges against Micucci. “To divert insurance proceeds intended for repairs, especially from our senior residents, is a betrayal of professional responsibility that our office will not tolerate.”

Officials said an investigation into Micucci began in January after a resident of Warminster told police that Micucci had failed to pay contractors who did repairs following a storm.

In following up on this investigation, police said, investigators allege that Micucci was involved in a “pattern of behavior” that began in January of 2024.

Through this behavior, police claim, Micucci’s company represented homeowners in claims against insurers including Allstate, Travelers, Progressive and State Farm and used, what officials called a “specific legal notice” to make sure any checks received from claims to these companies went directly to his company’s office in Bristol.

Micucci, officials allege, then claimed the funds were held in a business savings account that he used as an “escrow account.” But, that money, police claim, was never property distributed to clients, leaving them unable to pay for expensive repairs.

Police shared examples of victims who, they said, Micucci never paid:

  • A Warminster homeowner was owed over $30,000 after Micucci allegedly never provided needed funds for tree removal services
  • A Newtown resident was stuck seeking reimbursement after a flood claim received no funds and was forced to pay $25,000 out of pocket
  • A Doylestown woman acting as the executor of an estate in Yardley paid $35,000 of her own money to complete repairs after never receiving insurance checks
  • A Levittown resident was issued a check for $13,242.36 that was returned for insufficient funds

Police say in an interview with officers in March, Micucci admitted that he did not properly handle the claims.

Micucci has been charged with nine counts each of insurance fraud, theft by deception, deceptive business practices, and other offenses, officials said.

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is asking other residents who believe they may have been a victim of Micucci and Advanced Public Adjusters to contact Detective John Agnew at 215-348-6344.
