Amid partial government shutdown, PHL closes TSA checkpoint in Terminal C
After hundreds of Transportation Security Administration workers across the county have quit following a Department of Homeland Security shutdown that began last month, the Philadelphia International Airport has closed the security checkpoint in Terminal C due to a shortage of workers.
The airport announced the shutdown on social media on Wednesday night.
⚠️Temporary Checkpoint Closure: Beginning March 12, TSA will temporarily close the Terminal C security checkpoint to help optimize operations across other checkpoints.

The closure of the checkpoint began on Thursday.
Travelers that intended to use that checkpoint can use the other terminals as, officials noted, all terminals are connected past the security checkpoints.
The shutdowns comes as, according to NBC News, more than 300 TSA workers across the country have quit their jobs as they have not been getting paid amid a Department of Homeland Security shutdown that began in February.
As detailed by NBC News, funding for the DHS “expired Feb. 13 after lawmakers locked horns over the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts, much of which has been enforced by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection.”
A TSA union official told NBC News that, as of Wednesday, workers have missed one entire paycheck and were only given a half-paycheck two weeks ago.
