2 teen girls arrested, accused of battering Cook County sheriff's deputies
Two 15-year-old girls were arrested after allegedly battering Cook County sheriff's officers responding to reports of gunfire in Woodlawn Wednesday afternoon, according to Chicago police.
The sheriff's officers were in the 6400 block of South Evans Avenue at 4:41 p.m. when they saw several people fighting. When they tried to intervene, the two teens allegedly battered the officers, police said. The teens were arrested at the scene.
One officer was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, police said.
