1 killed, another hurt in North Lauderdale shooting; neighbors heard barrage of gunfire

One person was killed and another was hurt in a shooting in North Lauderdale, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Surveillance video captured the barrage of gunfire that happened at around 1 a.m. near the 7900 block of Southwest Seventh Court.

There, deputies found two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. North Lauderdale Fire Rescue took both to the hospital for treatment, but one of them did not survive.

One neighbor, Isreal Argueta, said he was woken up by the sound of bullets.

“They were dumping magazines or something like that,” he said. “It woke me up, and then I checked outside. Well I didn’t walk outside for safety reasons, but you know, I checked under the window right there, my front door, and I just saw like a bunch of blue [police] lights coming in.”

Authorities said they started searching for a suspect vehicle that they later found near the 1300 block of Avocado Isle in Fort Lauderdale. The driver, who has not been identified, was also found and taken into custody.

Footage of the scene from the early morning hours shows a vehicle with its passenger-side door open, creeping to a stop along a fence. Someone can be seen running up to the car, looking inside and then running off.

In the daylight, NBC6 crews saw how authorities appeared to focus on a Mustang with a broken window before the car was towed away.
