Philly man pleads guilty to multiple robberies targeting Brinks armored trucks

A Philadelphia man pleaded guilty to several charges in connection with four robberies targeting Brinks armored trucks in 2025.

On Tuesday, April 22, Dante Shackleford, 26, entered a guilty plea on one count of Hobbs Act robbery, three counts of attempted Hobbs Act robbery and one count of carrying, using and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Shackleford was charged by superseding indictment in January, along with 24-year-old Mujahid Davis, who is also from Philadelphia.

Officials said Shackleford, along with Davis and others, participated in four crimes involving Brinks armored trucks.

In July 2025, the offenders attempted to rob a Brinks truck on two separate occasions. The first robbery attempt happened on July 15 in Philadelphia, and the second happened on July 22 in Elkins Park.

Then, in August 2025, Shackleford and others robbed a Brinks truck in Elkins Park, according to prosecutors.

In October 2025, they attempted to rob another Brinks truck in Philadelphia, officials said.

Shackleford is set to be sentenced on August 11, and faces a maximum possible term of life in prison, with a mandatory minimum of seven years behind bars, a five-year term of supervised released and a $1,500,000 fine.

Shackleford’s guilty plea came a day after police said two men armed with assault rifles robbed a Brinks truck on Torresdale Avenue in Philadelphia.

The suspects left the scene with more than $1 million, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the case told NBC10. No arrests have been made in this case.
