Pedestrian killed in New Castle crash on Wednesday identified, police say
The pedestrian who was killed in a crash on Wednesday night was identified by officials in New Castle, according to the Delaware State Police.
Officials said the crash happened on April 22 at approximately 9:50 p.m. in the southbound lanes of North Dupont Highway near Bacon Avenue.
According to police, preliminary investigation indicated that a Ram 2500 was traveling behind a tractor trailer on North Dupont Highway and changed lanes.
At the same time, a man, identified as 71-year-old William Thomas Jr., entered the road from the Manor Park Shopping Center and walked into the path of the Ram causing the truck to hit the pedestrian.
Thomas died at the scene, officials said.
The Ram’s driver, a 53-year-old man from New Castle, and a passenger were not injured in the crash.
