Johnny Gaudreau among Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame's Class of 2026

The late hockey star and South Jersey native Johnny Gaudreau will be among the athletes inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame later this year, the organization announced on Thursday.

Johnny and his brother Matthew Gaudreau passed away in 2024 after they were struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver in South Jersey.

The parents of the Gaurdreau brothers said that Johnny’s selection fills their hearts in a way that they cannot put into words.

Johnny will be among 15 inductees for the Class of 2026, which will also include women’s soccer player Carli Lloyd and the man behind the Phillie Phanatic, Dave Raymond.

The induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, at the Live! Casino and Hotel Event Center in South Philadelphia.

“Honoring this class is a reminder of just how rich and diverse Philadelphia’s sports history truly is,” said Kay Magee, a trustee and member of the selection committee. “These inductees represent excellence across generations, and each has played a special role in shaping the story of sports in our city.”
