Community rallies behind girls softball team after equipment destroyed in bus fire

A community is supporting a girls softball team after they lost all their equipment following a school bus fire in South Jersey.

According to the Jacksonville Fire Company Station 212, the incident happened on April 22, 2026, in the area of Route 537 and Juliustown Road in Springville Township.

A Burlington County Institute of Technology bus was transporting BCIT Westampton’s softball team back from a game when it caught fire.

Images shared from the scene, showed the bus completed charred.

Everyone evacuated the bus safely; however, all the team’s gear and their personal belongings were left behind and destroyed.

The fire station, local residents, and even other softball teams have been spreading the word following the recent incident, aiming to support BCIT Westampton’s softball team as they work to replace all the items that were lost.

Jacksonville Fire Company Station 212 shared that they are accepting donations of softball gear, training gear, cleats and equipment bags in support of the team.

Mount Laurel Girls Softball is raising money to help via Venmo.

It is unclear at this time how the school bus caught fire.
