After 32 years, Metropolitan Bakery set to close Rittenhouse location
Customers will soon have to say goodbye to a beloved bakery in Philadelphia.
Metropolitan Bakery is closing its location on 19th Street in Rittenhouse Square on March 15, after 32 years in business.
“Thank you for supporting us for more than three decades. It has been an honor to serve you and to be part of your celebrations and daily life,” owners Wendy Smith Born and James Barrett shared in a statement.
The bakery shared that they are transitioning their business to Merzbacher’s of Germantown.
Some of the bakery’s popular items, such as their breads, rolls, and granola, will still be available online and at shops and markets throughout the region.
